Special Investigations Unit
The Special Investigations Unit (S. I. U.) is responsible for conducting specialized and complex investigations in The Township relating to drugs, vice, computer (MySpace) and organized crime. S.I.U. is comprised of 1 Sergeant, 3 Detectives and 3 Officers. S. I. U. personnel are sworn in every year as Special Bucks County Detectives. This allows them to investigate drug related crimes throughout Bucks County.unit also employs two K-9’s trained in drug detection.
S. I. U. Work closely with county and federal prosecutors, federal agents, state police, Philadelphia Police Department and county probation and parole officers, and other law enforcement partners, the Special Investigative Unit has one of their detectives assigned to the DEA Drug Task Force.
The S.I.U. will handle the following sensitive and specialized criminal investigations:
All Drug Related Crimes
Vice Crimes
Organized Crime/Gambling Investigations.
Internet Related Crimes
MySpace and Craig’s List
Intelligence Gathering
